TEAR IT UP was founded in 2005 and opened its doors February 2006 in the Historic Cooper-Young District in Memphis, TN. Having made the move from Philadelphia, it was soon discovered that despite all that Memphis had once offered the music world, there wasn't any sign of its current existence. Over the next five years, a new music scene had slowly surfaced and there was nowhere for these rock n rollers to shop, including the shop's owner. So she took her love of fashion & Rock n Roll, put her business degree to work, and decided to open TEAR IT UP. TEAR IT UP reflects both the rockabilly history of Memphis and the punk it influenced. Its name refers to a 1956 Coral Records hit by, not only a Memphis-born band, but the owner's dear friend, guitar legend Paul Burlison, and his group the Rock N Roll Trio.

TEAR IT UP has since made the move to the internet in an attempt to not only spread the word of Memphis' great influence but to keep it alive and share it with the world!

TEAR IT UP has been featured in numerous local and national publications & local television shows, including a segment on PBS.
